Jobs and lasting local benefits

If the project proceeds, current estimates are that it would create thousands of construction jobs over about 10 years. It also has the potential to support local suppliers, training and longer-term employment.

Large projects can create significant opportunities, and we want to work with the community to ensure those opportunities deliver meaningful and lasting local benefits. We want to work with Traditional Owners, nearby residents, local businesses and councils to identify what matters locally and how the project could deliver practical benefits for the rural area.

Community Involvement

Community and stakeholder engagement has started and is now focused on residents near Finn Road and Horne Road, along with the wider Berry Springs community. Engagement will extend across the broader rural area, Darwin and Palmerston as planning continues.

This early stage is the time to ask questions, raise concerns and help shape the project. More detailed information on land, water, energy and environmental management will be shared as the studies are completed and before approval applications are lodged.
